The Strangers

Sony/Malibu

Malibu was the first company I worked for that was truly multimedia. Their primary business was comics, but they were looking into other avenues from the start. My creation, The Strangers, went into animation, trading cards - and video games.

The Strangers game was designed as a playable comic. Each level would open with a paneled page which would fade into the action sequence. It conveyed the usual needed info and characterization in a way that demonstrated its unique origin - and it kept the product a legitimate extension of the origin. I was part of the design team and I was the boss of the comic, so I could work either one of them to keep them aligned. All very sensible.

You can check out the heroes of the piece - The Strangers - in their Comics galleries. Shown below is one of the new villains, Chameleon, created by Scott Sava.
