Now, Steve Ditko is one of my heroes. He'd not only co-created Spider-Man and Dr Strange, he'd established a distinct atmosphere to both series, unlike anything else in comics. So I leapt at the chance to work with him, and determined to do a "Ditko-esque" story. The result was THE DJINN.

But FANTASY ILLUSTRATED died after the first issue, so I had to wait till I had COYOTE™ to reprint the first story and then present the other three for the first time.

The Djinn also appeared in early issues of COYOTE, before the events in this story, and reappeared in the main story after those events at the end of the run.
